Description
Sunlight: Hibiscus is typically a sun growing plant. It is best to grow flowering Hibiscus in full sunlight. These plants do not like cold and dry weather – leaf and flower size reduces and in extreme cold, the plant dies.
Watering: Normal watering, once daily. During summer season (above 35 degree Celsius) the plant needs to be watered twice daily. When hibiscus are in their blooming stage, they require large amounts of water. During the winter season thou, they requires less watering as too much water can kill the plant. Water quantity also depends on the size of the planter.
Soil: Hibiscus are long lived plants and their growth and performance depends mainly on the soil used. Well drained soil with a lot of organic manure must be used.
Best suited pot: 9 inch – 14 inch pot would be best suited for this outdoor plant. Terracotta and Ceramic pottery would enhance the beauty of the plant.
Fertilizers: Fertilize once every 4 months. For the plant to flower well, it requires lot of nutrients. High potassium compost would do the job. Also plants are prone to the risk of pests, so bio-insecticide/bio-pesticide must be sprayed once every 1-2 months to keep the plant healthy and risk free.
