Sunlight: Orchids thrive in bright indirect sunlight making them good indoor plants. Suitable location would be near window or door on floor/table top etc. Insufficient light results in poor flowering. However, too much light can lead to leaf scorch.
Watering: Normal watering, once daily. Orchids need ample water but should be allowed to dry out some between waterings. Water quantity also depends on the size of the planter. Indoor orchid plants also need adequate humidity, about fifty to seventy percent. There are various ways to increase the humidity in your home. Place a water-filled saucer or tray of pebbles beneath plants, mist plants daily, or use a humidifier.
Soil: Orchids requires porous well draining soil, as water stagnation would cause leaf fall and the plants may die. A basic mix for growing orchids consists of coarse perlite, fir bark, and sphagnum moss. You can also add charcoal but this is optional.
Best suited pot: 6 inch – 12 inch pot would be best suited for this indoor plant. Black pottery, Terracotta, Jaipur Blue Pottery and Ceramic will enhance the beauty of the plant.
Fertilisers: Fertilize orchids weekly or bi-weekly while they are producing new growth and decrease to monthly or bi-monthly intervals once they mature. Discontinue altogether once the plants go dormant.
