DESI HIBISCUS PLANT
Sunlight: Hibiscus is typically a sun growing plant. It is best to grow flowering Hibiscus in full sunlight. These plants do not like cold and dry weather – leaf and flower size reduces and in extreme cold, the plant dies.
Watering: Normal watering, once daily. During summer season (above 35 degree Celsius) the plant needs to be watered twice daily. When hibiscus are in their blooming stage, they require large amounts of water. During the winter season thou, they requires less watering as too much water can kill the plant. Water quantity also depends on the size of the planter.
Soil: Hibiscus are long lived plants and their growth and performance depends mainly on the soil used. Well drained soil with a lot of organic manure must be used.
Best suited planter: 9 inch – 14 inch pot would be best suited for this outdoor plant. Terracotta and Ceramic pottery would enhance the beauty of the plant.
Fertilizers: Fertilize once every 4 months. For the plant to flower well, it requires lot of nutrients. High potassium compost would do the job. Also plants are prone to the risk of pests, so bio-insecticide/bio-pesticide must be sprayed once every 1-2 months to keep the plant healthy and risk free.
Nature of the Planter: Drum Planter is made of Terracotta material. It is in the shape of a Drum hence the name. The best location for this planter could be either indoors or outdoors.
Planter Care: This Planter is available in natural black and natural red colour. Due to the natural black the planter might also have patchy spots. Due to the porous nature of the planter, once we start using it, natural salts from the soil and water poured frequently may leach into the outside of the planter and as a result, the colour might fade over time.
These planters are made out of clay and so if they are dropped from a height they might break, so try not to drop them. Due to their sturdy nature they are long lasting planters.
Water Capacity: The big planter can take the water upto 750ml depending upon the plant and small one upto 500ml.
Best suited Tray: 6 inch Terracotta tray is suitable for both medium and large planters.
Potting Mix: The large planter would require 6 kg of potting mix and medium planter requires 1.5 kg of potting mix. Depending on the type of plant, the potting mix ratios and ingredients would vary accordingly. The mix mentioned here is standard mix consisting of red soil, manure, neem cake, vermi compost and perlite. And almost 80% of plants do well with the standard potting mix.
