FICUS STARLIGHT PLANT

Sunlight: Ficus starlight requires full sunlight when planted in the ground but for potted plant indirect bright light is required. The foliage has a clear white variegation (appearance of differently colored zones in the plant) especially when grown in shade and semi shade. For potted plants, bright direct sunlight leads to leaf loss. Sun grown plants should not be directly put indoors. They will shed a lot of leaves. Plants have to be acclimatized to the lower light level. They have to be shifted gradually.These plants can also tolerate wide range of climates, though they don’t like cold much.

Watering: Normal watering, once daily. Do not over or under water the plants as it leads to leaf loss, over watering also leads to root rot. Check the top of the soil first before watering and if it is wet do not water as it means they have enough moisture. If the top of the soil is dry to touch, this indicates that they need water. Ficus also likes high humidity around, so misting the plant at least twice a day or setting the Ficus pot on a pebble tray filled with water is a great way to increase the humidity.

Soil: Ficus plants are very hardy and grow in all soils. Good fertile, well draining deep soils are recommended.

Best suited planter: 8 inch – 15 inch planter would be best suited for this indoor plant. Black Terracotta pottery, Terracotta and Ceramic will enhance the beauty of the plant.

Fertilizers: These plants grow rapidly hence require lot of nutrients. Fertilize once every month in spring and summer and once every 2 months during fall and winter.

LOTA MOTA PLANTER
Nature of the Planter: Lota Mota is made of Terracotta material. It is a round planter hence the name. There are two designs in this plain and ribbed. The best location for this planter could be either indoors or outdoors.

Planter Care: This Planter is Red in colour. Due to the porous nature of the planter, once we start using it, natural salts from the soil and water poured frequently may leach into the outside of the planter and as a result, the colour might fade over time.

These planters are made out of clay and so if they are dropped from a height they might break, so try not to drop them. Due to their sturdy nature they are long lasting planters.

Water Capacity: This planter can take the water upto 1 ltr depending upon the plant.

Best suited Tray: 7 inch Terracotta tray is best suited for this.

Potting Mix: This planter would require 10 kg of potting mix. Depending on the type of plant, the potting mix ratios and ingredients would vary accordingly. The mix mentioned here is standard mix consisting of red soil, manure, neem cake, vermi compost and perlite. And almost 80% of plants do well with the standard potting mix.
