Mughal Barni Planter is made of blue pottery. It is well-made and beautifully colored pottery giving it a fine character and aesthetics.

Blue Pottery, a glazed pottery range, is widely recognized as a traditional craft of Jaipur, though it is of Turko-Persian in origin. This Persian art of blue pottery came to Persia and Afghanistan via the Mughal courts. The common motifs are inspired by the Mughal era. The name ‘blue pottery‘ comes from the eye-catching blue dye used to color the pottery. The intricate multi-step process for a typical pot takes up to a month to make.

The patterns and motifs on the pottery are designed in-house in addition to the traditional designs and then made by the expert artisans of the villages of Jaipur.

Nature of the Planter: Mughal Barni Planter is made of blue pottery material. This planter is in the shape of a Barni with traditional and contemporary art on it, hence the name. The best location for this planter is indoors and outdoors. This planter is available in two sizes small and Medium and various design patterns.

Planter Care: The ‘dough’ for the pottery is prepared by mixing quartz stone powder, powdered glass, Multani Mitti (Fuller’s Earth), borax, gum, and water. No clay is used.

A range of glazing and firing techniques are used to create different effects on the final product. The glazing seals the pottery and makes it water-proof, in addition to giving a glassy texture.

Jaipur Blue pottery will break when dropped, so please try not to drop them. These planters are attractive and long-lasting.

Water Capacity:  This planter can take 200ml of water depending upon the plant.

Best suited Tray: This planter does not have a tray.

Potting Mix: This planter would require  500 gm of potting mix. Depending on the type of plant, the potting mix ratios and ingredients would vary accordingly. The mix mentioned here is a standard mix consisting of red soil, manure, neem cake, vermicompost, and perlite. And almost 80% of plants do well with the standard potting mix. Also please reference the plants you are buying for clear understanding.
